The Quacktown Duck Derby started in 2019 with a folding table, 1,500 ducks, and a hunch that people would rather cheer for a rubber duck than sit through another gala. They did.
Today the derby is the Quacktown Community Foundation's biggest fundraiser of the year. Every duck adopted pays for after-school programs at three elementary schools, keeps the Quacktown Food Pantry stocked through the summer, and is building a new all-abilities playground at Mallard Park.
Nobody on the riverbank is a stranger for long. Come for the ducks. Stay for the town.
