Official rules and regulations for the 2027 Kiwanis Duck Race Festival
1. The Kiwanis Duck Race Festival is presented by the Kiwanis Club of South Central Indiana (the “Presenter”). Proceeds fund programs that benefit children throughout South Central Indiana.
2. The race is scheduled for May 1, 2027 in Bloomington, Indiana. The start time, venue and racecourse will be set by the race committee and announced before race day.
3. Chances of winning depend on the total number of ducks entered. All ducks entered are and shall remain the property of the Presenter. Once the ducks are launched, they are on their own. No attempt to free or interfere with any duck is permitted, unless deemed necessary by the race committee.
4. A tag number is attached to the bottom of each duck. Tag numbers are assigned to adoptions at random by computer. The adopters whose tag numbers match the first ducks collected at the finish line by the Presenter will be awarded prizes.
5. Ducks may be adopted online, or in person on race day until the time the Presenter deems appropriate before the start of the race, or until all available ducks have been adopted.
6. You must be 18 years of age or older to adopt a duck and to win a prize.
7. Duck adoptions are donations to the Presenter and are non-refundable.
8. No payment or donation is required to enter or to win. A free entry is available online or by mailing an entry request to the Presenter. Free entries have the same chance of winning as adopted ducks.
9. No cash equivalent prizes or exchanges will be provided in lieu of the designated prizes. Any taxes and fees are the responsibility of the winner. Positive identification will be required to claim any prize.
10. Winners need not be present to win. Winners will be announced following the race and notified by telephone, email or U.S. mail using the information provided with the adoption. Prizes must be claimed within 30 days of the race. If a winner does not claim a prize in that time, cannot be contacted, or is deemed ineligible, the Presenter will select a substitute winner at random from the remaining entries.
11. By entering, entrants release the Presenter, its officers, directors, volunteers, staff, sponsors and other related entities from any and all liability with respect to the prizes. By entering, winners consent to the promotional use of their names and likenesses without any additional compensation.
12. The Presenter reserves the right to postpone or reschedule the race, or to determine the winners by random drawing, in the event of inclement weather, acts of God, or other circumstances beyond its control.
13. All decisions and interpretations of these rules and regulations will be made by the race committee, and its judgment is final.
14. This event is subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law.
15. The Derby Duck Race is a registered trademark of Derby Duck Races and cannot be used or copied without its written consent.
