Everything you need to know about the Kiwanis Duck Race Festival
Proceeds help the Kiwanis Club of South Central Indiana fund programs that benefit children throughout South Central Indiana. Every duck adoption supports the club's community initiatives.
The Kiwanis Duck Race Festival is May 1, 2027 in Bloomington, Indiana. The venue and race-day schedule will be announced as planning continues. Thousands of numbered rubber ducks race in multiple heats before the day's championship finale.
Everyone who adopts a duck is entered into eQuack, the database that stores all of the adoption information. The tag numbers are shuffled and eQuack assigns one to each duck you adopted. If you adopt 6 ducks, your name is placed next to 6 different tag numbers.
Let's tag! Before the race, volunteers place a waterproof numbered tag on the bottom of every duck that will be in the water. Rest assured that all of the ducks you adopt will race.
Anyone! However, you must be at least 18 years old to adopt a duck and collect a prize.
No. No payment or donation is required to enter or to win. You can request a free entry online or by mailing in an entry. A free entry has the same chance of winning as an adopted duck. Adopting ducks is how the race raises money for local kids, so we hope you will.
Rubber ducks, silly!
No. After you adopt your duck, the Kiwanis team will work hard to train, coach and make sure each one is ready for race day. After the race, all of the ducks fly off to their next race somewhere in the U.S.
The Kiwanis Club of South Central Indiana will contact you using the information you provided with your duck adoption.
No, the winner does not need to be present or local to win. We do hope you will join us for the festival though!
Yes, as long as the race is not sold out. If ducks are still available on race day, you can adopt online or at the festival until shortly before the race begins.
